Red Calcium Phosphate Transfection KitA standard for high level of protein expression and virus production in HEK cellsThe Red Calcium Phosphate Transfection Kit is based on Graham and Van Der Eb method published in 1973. This method allows to introduce DNA inside cells and works best with highly transformed adherent cell lines such as HEK293. However, other cells and cell lines can be transfected with this method. If its transfection efficiency is not as high as the one obtain by using last generations of cationic polymers and cationic lipids it presents several advantages including very low cytotoxicity with sensitive cells. Tedious optimizations are required and reproducibility problems can occur when using this method for DNA transfection. The Red Calcium Phosphate Transfection Kit we developped was improved in order to increase its stability and reproducibility. This kit is dedicated for producing proteins and viruses in HEK cells but can also be used to transfect sensitive cells. |

Figure: Comparison of transfection efficiency between Red Calcium Phosphate Transfection kit and another commercialy available kit. HEK293 cells were transfected in 10 cm dishes according to the protocol after several freeze-thaw cycles of the HBS. Protein expression was quantified by immunofluorescence 48h after transfection. |
